Could I care less about the UN?

Again, Liberal hand-wringing on CBC has escalated into an anxiety attack over this momentous event.  Rex Murphy at the National Post got it right "the UN has nothing over us".  And even better:

If Michael Ignatieff has the power to work his dominion over the combined nations of the world — to bend China, the Arab bloc, Latin America and Africa to his imperious will — why oh why he is wasting his time running around the parochial sandbox with Stephen Harper in Ottawa?

David Frum continues with this line of thinking today by noting that we seem to have invented a new Olympic Event - Solo Boxing.    As he points out - there was no "conspiracy" against Canada.  If the Americans have been unsuccessful at the UN on our account, they have been just as hapless for themselves.  And there is the pity.

I can't stand it any longer.  I'm thinking of taking up smoking just so I can begin a campaign of civil disobedience!  The "Liberal Nanny State" lives-on despite the party members having to suffer their exile from rule. Soon this charity will be pushing "Soylent Green" in cooperation with Greenpeace "for my own good".

1) "Cosmetic" pesticides? Give me a break.
2) I am not a smoker but I'm thinking of taking it up just to spite you idiots. 2nd hand smoke rates along side Anthropomorphic Climate Change as highly questionable science.
3) Endorsement of Smoke Free Parks and Vehicles.  Is no place anywhere sacred?   Another expansion of a totalitarian state.

God help us.

Ethical Oil book-launch

On Sept 27 I attended Ezra Levants' book-signing at Chapters Indigo for his new book "Ethical Oil".  It is a forthright denouncement of the moral bankruptcy of the Environmental Movement's attempt to destroy Oilsands production in Canada - plain and simple.

Mr. Levant was kind enough to sign the copy I purchased - although not exactly as I wished as he no doubt thought it would turn up in an embarrassed moment for him at some point down the line. I don't really blame him.  He is returning for a lecture tour later in October.

Gloria Allred attempts smear of Meg Whitman Campaign for Calif. Governor

Well-known Democrat and Celebrity Divorce Lawyer - Gloria Allred, announced that Governorship Candidate front-runner Meg Whitman knowingly kept an illegal-immigrant housekeeper on staff for 6 years before callously firing her in June 2009.   Last night Whitman performed well against her Democrat re-tread opponent - Jerry Brown.


Clearly, this is a smear. Hopefully it will backfire.

Swedish swing to the right

Sweden held General Election on the weekend (Sept18) and it looks like the swing to the right has included a few "scary" right-wing fringe parties (or so this Al Jezera broadcast implies).  Recently, Mark Steyn won an award in Denmark for addressing the threat of Islamification to the West from his book "America Alone".    In he mentioned the dramatic rise in anti-Semitic attitudes in the liberally democratic countries of Scandanavia - like Sweden.

Rob Ford surging in Toronto Mayoralty Race

I found this further evidence of the right-ward shift that seems apparent across most of the country these days.  It was also satisfying that that Liberal hack, Warren Kinsella, has proved to be a dead-weight against Ford's main opponent Rossi.  It was Kinsella who was the Liberals sharp end of the spear attack against Ezra Levant's completely rational response to the AHRC prosecution of him for "hate-crimes".   Kinsella often looked out-gunned despite his storied past accomplishments.   This 2001 article shows a different side.  Also of note was that Kevin Bosch (an Albertan) was the real "MVP" in those elections.   As usual the real workhorses don't spend all their time in self-promotion.
