"Political correctness isn’t a purely cultural phenomenon, a merely autonomous product of a free market of ideas in an era of enlightenment and progress. It is a multi-billion-dollar industry, funded, promoted, regulated and enforced by government. Without pro-active governments taking on Big Brother roles, political correctness would be an irrelevant factor in the economy and in our lives."However this is unlikely to happen - especially as OUR Trudeau Government appears curiously concerned about the demise of the private media - accelerated by the State Propaganda Agency. I predict a move to "save" private media with 1) substantial CBC ad revenue and 2) Government "support" under claim of advancing Canadian Culture.
In America a similar kind of "post-truth" reality is dawning and many Red State voters are optimistic that under Trump control of government growth will be undertaken - hopefully beginning with Higher Education.
Finally - in memory of the passing of great Canadian Leonard Cohen. (and a more tuneful rendition)
