Shocking Event - Cardiac Arrest of Gr12 Student in Winnipeg
Reading this was a shock - the apparently healthy, with no known health risk indicators collapsed after a soccer practice at one of Winnipeg's oldest Private Schools.
Organization mentioned is ParentHealthWatch.
[Update: Oct 13, 2011 - Bystander CPR Proposed in Canada. Current Position Statement ]
While one parent in the audience -- a doctor -- rushed forward to perform CPR, a student fetched one of SJR's two defibrillator machines. The doctor attempted to rescucitate the boy with the defibrillator until paramedics arrived. The teen was rushed to Children's Hospital, where he died.
There was no indication the student was feeling unwell before his collapse, Johnson said, and the school was not aware of anything in his medical history that might have made playing sports a known risk.Having portable defibrillators - or even ability to provide CPR - seems to be key.
Organization mentioned is ParentHealthWatch.

PC Thought Police on US Campus (for a change)
Given my daughters dedication to former TV Program "Firefly" I was surprised to see it mentioned on PJTV today. Campus security threatened a University of Madison WI Film Studies Prof with our "Disorderly Conduct" unless he removed a poster of the main character with a quote one of the show's segments where he explains to a new colleague that he needn't be afraid of being "murdered in the night". The Prof took down the offending poster and put up another that said:
At least it wasn't a Canadian University for a change.
"Fascism can cause blunt head trauma and/or violent death," the poster reads. "Keep fascism away from children and pets."
At least it wasn't a Canadian University for a change.

1930 Top Secret US Plan - Invade Canada!
To show that the Americans were always looking forward to all eventualities, these shocking plans were discovered some time ago and are part of a discovered stash of similar "hypothetical military plans". Countering the British Empire was Code Red - and it began with an invasion of Canada. Approximately 6 million men were envisaged taking part in the invasion beginning with Halifax NS. It was expected that a massive Navel battle would take place in the North Atlantic and it was anticipated that Britian would have suceeded Canada to teh USA in exchange for peace and retaining it's trade routes.
It was totally rejected by FDR.
Imagine how things would have been if it had ever been advanced.

To see a rainbow - it's gotta rain (Dolly Parton)
On occasion you have to find the good in the bad. That was the overwhelming reason for brimming optimism in this Marriage Therapist's blog - however one piece caught my eye as a private mantra some may want to consider (no point in explaining to the other side as they will not give you any positive feedback.)
Love is never a mistake.

Morality of Tax-Havens
It has become fashionable for Western countries to slag Tax-Havens. It is true that there have been a number of shady dealings - but there are enough countries in the world where regimes are much, much worse.

The Hopey-Changer
No he didn't.
That is the conclusion of Ezra Levant to the creed of "Chope". Ezra recounts how much better "quiet" Canada has done than America under Obama's "Quantitative Easing" program. The worst President ever - even outperforming "peanut-farmer" Carter (on the down-side). Now I hear Obama has been bumped again (1st from Wed Sept 7 to Thur) due to the opening of NFL Season.
