Failure of US legal sysytem - is Canada any better?

This US report points out the staggering hidden social cost to incarceration.  Is this due to rampant crime, poor enforcement or lack of rehabilitation opportunities? Something must be done.

Denis AVEY, 92 yr old WWII Vet has written a book about his exploits as POW in Germany entitled "The Man Who Broke Into Auschwitz," co-written by Rob Broomby and published in Britain by Hodder & Stoughton.

EU court bans gender in calculating insurance price.

Europe's top court on Tuesday banned insurance companies from basing prices on gender, ruling that making men pay more than women for life and car accident policies is discriminatory.

On his ill-considered assessments, this "doctor" ruined men and families.  I have always wondered if he had anything to do with the Susan Nelles case in the 1980's.

Smith should be charged and tried for his crimes of impunity.

Yann Martel gives up forcing books on PM

Finally, after 100 books he quit.  Thank-God.
His list is filled with mostly left-wing trash, so it seems a waste of time to read most of them except for Martel's conceit.  Despite trying to like it, I hated his book "The life of Pi" as another example of how Canadian Culture industries are bankrupt.

Ricky Gervais bombs at the Golden Globe awards

I am not a great fan of such Award programs (except perhaps the Academy Awards a it breaks up the winter as bit) but I did read that apparently Gervais's humour was not appreciated at this years ceremony.

I watched these clips of his gags and must say I can understand the discomfort, but there was some (off colour) funny parts.
